Gambling equipment with the possibility of winning - type approval
Gambling equipment with the possibility of winning (money and goods gambling equipment) may only be set up commercially if the Physical-Technical Federal Agency (Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt) has approved the design. Producers of gambling equipment must apply for this approval.
Approvals can be granted for a limited period or subject to further conditions.
The Physical-Technical Federal Agency has published technical guidelines on its website, which contain detailed information on the exact procedure, a detailed description of the required documents and a sample application.

Requirements for the approval of gambling equipment
- The requirements for the licensing of gambling equipment are regulated in §§ 12, 13 and 14 of the Gambling Ordinance (Spieleverordnung or SpielV) (see "Legal basis").
- § 14 Gambling Ordinance applies to goods gambling equipment, according to which some of the requirements that must also be observed for the licensing of money gambling equipment apply.

The application must be submitted in written form with the applicant's signature to the Physical-Technical Federal Agency.
- Description of the gambling equipment
- Construction plan of the play equipment
- Instructions for use of the gambling equipment
- Technical description of the components of the gambling equipment

Sample equipment
A sample equipment that must be complete and functional and suitable for series production.

Written declaration of the producer
Written declaration by the producer that the gaming equipment to be tested fulfils the requirements specified in § 12 Sec. 2 Gambling Ordinance (Spielverordnung or SpielV). Supplementary technical descriptions may be submitted in electronic form.
