Explosives - Apply for a clearance certificate
If you want to take part in a training course that teaches the specialised knowledge for the acquisition and handling of explosive substances in accordance with the Explosives Act, you need a clearance certificate. The certificate is valid for one year.
Procedure
Procedure
- Submit an application for a clearance certificate in accordance with § 34 Para. 2 of the 1st Explosives Ordinance. You can do this by fax or e-mail to sprengstoff@lagetsi.berlin.de.
- Your application will be checked. If you are not an EU citizen, the authority will obtain information from the relevant immigration authority.
- You will receive a decision with a clearance certificate. Your application may also be rejected.
Prerequisites
- You must be a natural person.
- Minimum age: 21 years

Reliability
The required reliability is normally given if you have behaved law-abidingly in the past and have no criminal record. -
personal suitability
You are personally suitable if you have no mental or physical health restrictions or drug or alcohol addiction. -

At the latest 3 months before the intended participation in a training course

Information about the type of course and, if applicable, course registration -
Persons residing abroad (EU country/non-EU country) and non-German nationality: extract from the criminal record
You will need an extract from the criminal record in a certified translation from the competent judicial or administrative authority in your home country or country of origin that is relevant to the assessment of your reliability. If this reveals certain facts (e.g. convictions) that require further checks, the authorities will contact you.

- EUR 85.00 (EUR 40.00 for the licence and EUR 45.00 for the background check)
- EUR 8.50 to EUR 42.50 for refusal (depending on administrative costs)
